The Martian has shot right up there to be one of my favourite books. Mark Watney is such a believable, funny and smart character, and the book made me feel actually afraid for him when things kept going wrong, made me laugh at all of his wisecracks, and make me root for him to keep going in the face of continuous almost certain of death/5(38K).
